Ceramic Basket Weaving- Jan. 21st
Explore the Art of Clay Weaving: Create Your Own Stunning Ceramic Basket
On January 21st from 6:30-9pm blend the timeless craft of basket weaving with the art of handbuilding ceramics! Led by the incredibly talented Mariana, an experienced ceramic artist, this workshop takes basket weaving to the next level, using ceramic coils instead of natural fibers to create your very own sculptural masterpiece✨
This workshop is designed to be scalable, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced potter. We’ll have a variety of mold sizes and forms available, so you can customize your project based on your skill level. Beginners will enjoy learning the foundational techniques, while more advanced potters can take on a greater challenge with larger forms and intricate designs.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
How to build a ceramic piece using a mold to maintain its shape.
Techniques for rolling and shaping ceramic coils to form a sturdy basket.
Weaving and joining coils to create a striking, strong, and unique design.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to push your creativity further, this workshop offers something for everyone. By the end of the session, you’ll have a beautifully crafted ceramic basket that’s both functional and an eye-catching work of art. 🧺✨
Once your creation is complete, we’ll handle all the firing and glazing for you. You’ll even get to choose your glaze color during class! After the firings, we’ll notify you in about 3-4 weeks when your basket is ready for pickup at Studio Sumi.
