Dinnerware Workshop- Nov. 23rd, Dec. 18th

$125.00

Handbuild your own plates and bowls and impress your guests this Fall 🍁

Join us for a special 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to handbuild your very own plates and bowls! We’ve received many requests for a tableware workshop, and we’re excited to offer this one—available to just 4 participants since dinnerware requires more shelf space. Don’t miss your chance to create stunning, functional tableware for your home!

Workshop Overview:

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to handbuild plates and bowls using clay slabs and molds provided by Studio Sumi. Perfect for beginners or those looking to refine their tableware-making skills, you’ll discover essential slab-building techniques, work with molds to shape your pieces, and explore surface design with texture tools and stamps. Depending on the design on complexity of each piece, students can expect to make about 4-8 pieces.

  • Hands-On Learning: Use clay slabs and a variety of wooden or plaster molds to shape your plates and bowls. You’ll be guided through the process of creating functional, beautiful tableware while learning key tips and techniques.

  • Surface Design: After shaping your pieces, you’ll have the chance to add your own personal touch with texture tools and stamps, making each piece uniquely yours.

  • Small Group Size: Due to the size of tableware and the space it takes up in our studio, this workshop is limited to 4 participants. It’s an intimate, hands-on experience where you’ll get plenty of guidance and support.

⭐️ Participants can bring their own molds as long as they are made from porous materials like wood or terra cotta and do not exceed 10 inches in size. Studio Sumi will also supply a variety of molds for use. You may also bring your own stamps or texture tools.

What Happens Next:

During the workshop, you’ll choose your glaze color, and we’ll handle all the firings and glazing for you. Once your pieces are fired and ready (about 3-4 weeks later), you’ll receive an email with instructions for pick-up—just in time to showcase them at your next gathering!
