Paint, Sip, and Snack Your Heart Out🥂✨
Come hang with us for a special night celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with paintbrushes in hand, wine in your cup, and snacks in reach. Whether you identify as AAPI or just want to show up, celebrate culture, and make something beautiful (and maybe slightly chaotic), you’re totally invited.
We’ll be decorating ceramic plates with colorful underglazes and carving fun designs into them using a technique called sgraffito (fancy name, super chill process). No experience needed, just bring yourself and get ready for a good time.
What You’ll Do:
• Paint & Carve – You’ll get a blank ceramic plate (8”) and we’ll walk you through how to paint it with underglazes and carve out your design. Think florals, food doodles, waves, identity, or anything else that feels like you.
• Pick a Glaze – Choose your glaze finish, and we’ll take it from there. Your piece will be glazed, fired, and ready for pick-up in about 3–4 weeks.
What’s Included:
• Complimentary wine (yes, we’re pouring!)
• Free tea and coffee station
• A snack spread featuring some of our favorite Asian treats (Pocky, shrimp chips, you know the good stuff)
• All the clay tools, paint, aprons, and guidance you need

Instructor Bio:
Helen is a ceramicist in San Francisco. She picked it up as a hobby during the pandemic 3 years ago and has stuck with it since then. She loves making functional pieces and infusing their magic in every day life. You can find her and her frogs on Insta at @helenspots.

First Class
Please arrive about 5 minutes before the class begins to check in and find a seat.
Age Requirement
The classes are paced for and primarily booked with adults, but students 16+ can sign up with Guardian permission.
Cancellation Policy
To request a cancellation or refund, please email bri@sumiware.com. Refunds requested more than one week prior to the class date are fully refundable or you can reschedule to a different class. Refunds requested within one week from the class date are 50% refundable. No refunds are given within 24hrs of the start of class. Should a class not fill sufficiently, it may be cancelled 24hrs prior to the class date and full refund will be issued to those enrolled. Thanks for understanding!
